Sep-2-2003 -- We have reached alpha stage. The program is usable but requires more features. Modifiers are the most important thing to get fully working. Normal modifiers work but ability modifiers and stat modifiers are not implemented yet. The other issue is getting complete data files. Still a long way to go.
GCCP is a GURPS Character Creation Program (for GNU/Linux, FreeBSD, etc). GURPS is a role playing game by Steven Jackson Games. You can find more information about it in my RPG page.
I have played GURPS for many years and must admit that one of the things that led me to it was the great character creation program called Makechar. Makechar was written by Bill Seurer and was a fine DOS program. You can search for more info on the web. Currently most people can use windows programs to create characters. You can find more info about such programs at the official GURPS Gaming Aids page
I use Linux, I don't use windows, so insted of trying to run one of these programs in an emulator I wrote my own program, GCCP or GURPS Character Creation Program. This program is written in Python, which is a portable scripting language and uses the GTK2 bindings for the gui. It is open source (GPL) so you are free to use it, copy it, modify it, etc.
There are not many features yet, still in development stage. The program is fully functional. Download it and try it out feedback is greatly appreciated. There are many planned features, check the TODO file.
